The Swallow and the Plane TreeKırlangıç ile Çınar
Left behind by her flock on the morning of the great migration, a young swallow spends the winter beside a seven-hundred-year-old plane tree. It teaches her not to fly, but to wait.Göç sabahı sürüsünden geride kalan genç bir kırlangıç, kışı yedi yüz yaşındaki bir çınarın yanında geçirir. Çınar ona uçmayı değil, beklemeyi öğretir.
Every summer the swallows line up on the wire beside the great plane tree in the village square. This year, for the first time, Telli is among them. On the last morning of September the flock rises for the long journey south, but the wind does not wait for her. Telli tumbles, hurts her wing and lands in the leaves at the foot of the old tree. Her yaz kırlangıçlar köy meydanındaki ulu çınarın yanındaki tellere dizilir.
She calls after her flock. The one who answers is the tree. For seven hundred years it has never moved, yet the whole world has come to it: caravans, a fountain being built, children doing their lessons in its shade. Over one long winter, with the help of a girl named Defne and her grandfather, a retired village teacher, Telli learns that leaving is not the only way, and that some places exist so that you can come back.Sürüsüne seslenir.
